Hi everyone I would like to highlight an issue that I find very disturbing and that is the constant presence of South African Zionists protesting for an unequal Apartheid state in a land that was once occupied in the same condition.I find it absolutely appalling that the South African government allows such stigmatizing protests to exist especially organizations such as the South African Zionist Federation in Cape Town which promotes a state which is founded in colonialism and imperialism in a country where I have been taught it was wrong.

I believe in a free and diverse South Africa yes,but not one that spreads value systems that oppress minorities.As a young child I was taught by the very people who experienced this oppression the value of loving everyone and of the joys of an equal society so why does Palestine not deserve the same?

This Sunday the Cape Town Marathon was hosted and Israeli runners were allowed to join.When Palestinian organisations such as the Palestine Solidarity Campaign went to protest these individuals who represented, a state that was built on the exact principles we frowned upon, infiltrated the protest and began to spread their chants of hate to support a country that has been committing atrocities across the Middle East.Giving hateful individuals like this the right to protest for genocide in our great rainbow nation.So I call on the South African government to ban these organisations in Cape Town outright and keep South Africa a diverse and equal place.

As a South African student in one of the greatest countries in the world that was able to overcome decades of oppression I believe that it is our time to help fight against the terrors of Israel and show that another Apartheid will not be tolerated in South Africa or anywhere ever again.
