Change Zara's unfair return policies and terrible customer service!
The Issue
Zara has the worst customer service and return policy of any major retailer I’ve ever seen! Their online purchase and returns are constantly being mishandled with packages being lost or items missing, customers returning items and not being refunded or receiving faulty items and then being denied returns. They don't have any leeway with their 30 day return window, not allowing store credit or an exchange if you miss it even by 1 day. And they don’t allow returns or exchanges of items purchased in-store without a receipt even if you have proof of purchase through your credit card statement. They actually have a strict policy of not printing double receipts or looking up transactions.
All of this is unheard of these days with all the technology available, but even worse when we are in a pandemic!!! Not only were we locked down with stores closed everywhere for months, once they reopened stores, dressing rooms stayed closed and customers are not allowed to try on clothes in store. There have also been nationwide shipping delays and petty crime is up meaning packages are being stolen left and right. None of this factors into their return policy though, the only option they might give if you press hard enough is to exchange for the exact same item in a different size or color and only if it’s available in store at that time. Then when you reach out to their customer service for any of the above issues, they pretty much just always tell you TOO BAD these are our policies.
A quick search on social media will show thousands of angry customers who are dealing with various Zara refund issues, so I think it’s time we force them to update their horrendous return policies and step up their customer service at least during the pandemic! Zara is worth an estimated $18 billion and I wonder how much of that is from customers who were denied reasonable refunds?!
