YouTube: STOP terminating ZeHabesha Media Channels, vital sources of information for the millions of Ethiopians in the diaspora.

Millions of Ethiopians around the world have relied on ZeHabesha Media for news coverage and reporting on Ethiopia for many years. During Internet blackouts, civil unrest, government transitions, ZeHabesha has been at the forefront and delivered unbiased coverage on Ethiopia current affairs. 

Recently, ZeHabesha Media’s main YouTube channel, ZeHabesha Official, and numerous backup channels, ZeHabesha Extra and others, have been terminated by a coordinated attack from individuals and institutions who falsely and absurdly accused and reported ZeHabesha Media for perpetuating violence in Ethiopia. In response, YouTube terminated and continues to terminate ZeHabesha Media Channels without any explanation whatsoever from YouTube representatives and without due diligence.

When did Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Press become rights reserved for just a few? These are the very same values we continue to fight for in Ethiopia for over a decade to this day. It is disheartening that we must fight for these values in America, the land of opportunity, “the land of the free and home of the brave”, the land that calls to so many. 

If Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Press mean anything to you, this is a time to act. We must DEMAND the same rights given to other media outlets. ZeHabesha has NEVER promoted violence in any form or shape. ZeHabesha has dedicated itself for the past decade to provide fair and unbiased information to the Ethiopian diaspora across the world. We MUST stand by and protect our American Rights and DEMAND YouTube to reinstate the various ZeHabesha Media channels.
