Petition to YouTube to update its copyright policy to one that protects creators first.

Petition to YouTube to update its copyright policy to one that protects creators first.
The Issue
The situation on YouTube has grown far beyond ridiculous. The copyright claim system on YouTube was built to be as hands-off as possible for YouTube and kiss up to anyone making a claim. There is no system that requires claimants to prove infringement on their copyrights. There is no punishment for abuse of the YouTube copyright claim system. The system is automated, at no point do the content creators speak with a human during the process, so that even the most blatant of abuse cases are drug out for weeks or months, all at the expense of innocent YouTubers.
YouTube's copyright claim system does not care about Fair Use laws and is stacked hopelessly in favor of the claimant, with the knowledge that most recipients of claims don't have the time or money to fight to prove their rights, and that those that do have to go through weeks or months of having their content blocked, their time lost and income hurt of totally lost while some slip through the cracks and have their channels deleted; all unjustly.
YouTube's system allows for outright theft, censorship, bullying, crossfire, the destruction of people's livelihoods and hobbies, and slows the inevitable growth of the Internet as a medium of new media and free expression. There is a culture of fear for creators that any day, any content you produce could be abused by someone with no valid claim that will damage or destroy your livelihood, with some channels receiving claims almost daily. The cases of innocent people being drug through the mud or destroyed by YouTube's apathy in the name of profit and saving face have grown too large; it is time for change.
For more information, watch the Nostalgia Critic's video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVqFAMOtwaI or any other YouTuber's video on the subject from the last few weeks, and use and search the hashtag "#WTFU", where's the fair use?
