Thousands of responsible dog owners are currently excluded from parts of community life because dogs are not permitted on Sydney’s trains.

For people without a car, this can mean missing dog-friendly events, struggling to reach parks and beaches, finding it difficult to attend veterinary appointments and becoming isolated from friends, family and the wider community.

It doesn’t have to be this way.

We are calling on the NSW Government to introduce one clearly designated pet-friendly carriage on every train as part of a two-year trial.

This is a practical and balanced solution. It would give responsible dog owners greater freedom while respecting passengers who may have allergies, fears or simply prefer not to travel near animals.

Cities around the world already make pet-friendly public transport work. Sydney can too.

This Change.org campaign is now helping us build support for the next major step: a formal NSW Parliamentary e-petition backed by Alex Greenwich MP. When the parliamentary petition is officially launched, we will let everyone know how to sign it and help us build the momentum needed to bring about real change.
