Youngsville is growing. Our approach to roadway safety needs to grow with it. 

Youngsville, Louisiana is a growing community. 

Every day, our roads are shared by motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, e-bike riders, and e-scooter riders.

Every one of those people is someone's family member, friend, neighbor, coworker, or loved one. 

We are asking the City of Youngsville to take a proactive look at roadway safety throughout our community and consider additional measures that could help protect everyone who use our roads. 

Why are we starting this petition?

On August 27, 2026, our family lost Kourtney. 

Her death has changed our family forever.

While the circumstances remain part of an ongoing investigation and legal process, we believe her loss should also start an important conversation about roadway safety in Youngsville.

This petition is NOT asking the City to determine fault in Kourtney's death.

It is not asking anyone to interfere with an ongoing investigation or legal processing. 

It is asking a simple question:

What can we do as a community to make our roads safer before another family experiences this king of loss?

What we are asking Youngsville to consider:

• Conduct a citywide review of roadway safety for vulnerable road users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, e-bike riders, and e-scooter riders.
• Identify areas where additional sidewalks, shoulders, crossings, lighting, signage, roadway markings, visibility improvements or other safety measures may be appropriate.
• Review roadway design and connectivity as Youngsville continues to grow.
• Increase public education and sharing the road and the responsibility of motorists to remain alert for all roadway users.
• Promote safety and visibility education for e-bike and e-scooter riders, including the importance of appropriate lighting and reflective equipment. 
• Review crash data and resident concerns to identify intersections and corridors that may warrant additional safety evaluation. 
• Consider the needs of vulnerable road users in future transportation and infrastructure planning.
• Explore a Youngsville Vulnerable Road User Safety Initiative involving residents, transportation officials, law enforcement, schools and community organizations. 

This is bigger that one road. 

You do not have to live on Savoy Road to care about roadway safety.

You do not have to know Kourtney.

You simply have to believe that people should be able to use the roads in our community and have a reasonable expectation of making it home safely. 

We cannot change what happened to Kourtney.

But we can choose what we do with the pain her loss left behind. 

We can ask questions. 

We can increase awareness. 

We can identify potential hazards.

We can encourage safer driving.

And we can ask our city leaders to consider whether there are improvements that could make Youngsville safer for everyone. 

We are asking Youngsville to listen.

We respectfully ask the Mayor and Youngsville City Council to review the petition and consider meaningful steps toward improving roadway safety throughout our community.
