Less exclusion with more inclusion by creating a Commemorative Stamp Series
The Issue
"Triumph, Unsung Military Heroes" is an Art Exhibit that educates about the under reported History of valor, honor and sacrifice by African Americans in the US Military started during the American Revolution up to World War, ll ending with two images of the Tuskegee Airmen. Our petition drive is national in scope with the signatures being presented to the US Postal Service for its consideration for the images in the Exhibit to become a Commemorative Postage Stamps Series to fill in gaps and to educate the Public as well as to acknowledge the service to our Nation. The intention of "Triumph, Unsung Military Heroes" exhibit is to create learning opportunities for our citizens and to create a more inclusive attitude when seen on envelopes that go around the world as US postage. This powerful Exhibit was commissioned by Tri-Ad Veterans League located in Boston, Mass. and was created by youth in Artist for Humanity an after school art learning program. These youth had little information, but were taught about the History and were able to further study, learn and create the 13 images that makes the Exhibit. These are powerful images reach and teach when they are seen as US postage stamps.
