Every year off the coast of Japan, more than 20,000 Dolphins are driven into a small cove in Taiji, Japan, and killed.  This brutal act is supported and subsidized by Corporations such as Seaworld, and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums; who both keep Dolphins and Whales in captivity.  

Dolphins are chased into a cove and butchered in the most horrific and cruel ways imaginable, including cutting off their fins and letting them bleed out,  and harpooning them.  A few Dolphins each hunt are spared and sold into captivity, but they usually die of shock before they even make it out of Japan. The Dolphins who are killed are being sold for their meat, which is sometimes passed as grade A meat.  This meat has high levels of mercury in it, making too much of it poison to any human or animal who eats it.  The program is being protected by claiming to be a Japanese tradition, although it has only been happening since 1969.  The hunters who carry out the slaughters have permits from the Japanese government to kill, and sell the Dolphins for their meat.  

With your signatures, we can contact the Japanese Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and show how many people this has effected. We can get them to abolish the permits for hunting Dolphins and Whales, and shut down the fisheries that take part in this.  Lots of people in Japan and other countries do not realize this is happening, as the Government and the local fisheries take extreme measures to protect it.  By bringing awareness to this topic, we can educate and help people take a stand against this killing.
