At our local Skate park (Reid Menzer Memorial Skate Park) the lights have been going out earlier and earlier. So far in the past month, the "lights out" time has been pushed back on two occasions without warning. At this time (July 27th) the lights shut off at 10 pm. As expected, a large part of the community is feeling blindsided and as if we have lost a safe place for us to skateboard and spend time with our skate family.

Many of us work, have kids or are on a third shift schedule leaving us unable to visit the park during the day. Not to mention, skating in these summer temperatures can be exhausting and even dangerous. Why should the lights be able to stay on late into the night for softball games but not at the skate park?

Our goal is to keep the lights on till at least 12 am, which would give us plenty of time to skate without having to worry about the heat or risking heat stroke. Please help us reach our goal!
