Remove Lakeview Park Cell Tower!

The Issue

www.nocelltower.org

Cell phone towers emit Radio Frequency radiation (RF). The cell phone industry's stance is that RF is in the non-heating range of the EMF spectrum. Science has concluded however, that even low-level exposure to RF is linked to many other illnesses. Symptoms and illnesses include headaches, memory and concentration issues, sleep problems, heart problems and increased heart rates, increased stress hormone levels, nosebleeds, an increase in seizures, blood brain barrier leakage problems, and impaired nervous systems.

Of significant concern is the tower's proximity to Lakeview Elementary. Faster growing cells are the most vulnerable when exposed, which means that the students of Lakeview (some of who are on campus for 8~10 hours a day) will be placed at excessive risk.

Building cell towers close to schools is dangerous and irresponsible and should be prohibited.  LAUSD has already banned cell sites at all of its schools and has called for local governments to increase setback requirements for cell sites near its schools.

We further challenge the cell tower based on:

1. There is NO NEED.  Verizon coverage is good in the area.

2. It's ugly and does not blend in with its park-like surroundings.

3. This cell tower will LOWER PROPERTY VALUES.

4. It is structurally dangerous. Move it to a spot away from park visitors and school children.

5. Inadequate notice. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE BUILT.

THEREFORE, WE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST that the Yorba Linda City Council:

1) Halt construction of the Verizon tower located next to Lakeview Elementary

2) Terminate/Revoke the Permit allowing for its installation

3) Establish a city ordinance that would restrict cell sites to not be within 2,000 feet of a school.

4) Increase notification requirements for Cell Towers to a 2,000' radius.
