On May 4th 2022 at IS 126 It became mandatory to put phones in a magnetic pouch called YONDR. YONDR is a phone case that makes students unable to reach their phones until dismissal which can be an extreme health hazard, for example if a teacher were in need of medical assistance and the students are unable to dial 911 because their phones are locked inside a YONDR case, by the time they are able to get help it may be too late.

Another reason why YONDR cases present a safety hazard are that inside of every YONDR pouch there is a small, metal, sharp spike that sticks upright, and several students claim to have been poked by this spike, and in numerous cases it broke skin, causing their wound to swell. An article called "How i almost got killed by a YONDR" states how a person was poked by the spike and explained a time when their YONDR case got closed shut and while trying to open it  the small, metal, needle-like spike dug under their cuticle causing panic among the students and staff. We suggest, instead of locking phones inside of a YONDR case, the moment students enter the classroom they are required to put their phones in zip-lock bags and place them inside of a phone bin until dismissal. This will keep students, staff, and parents safe while ensuring students full attention and participation.

This shows how dangerous YONDR phone cases can be and the safety issues they present to students. Students, parents, and guardians, please consider supporting this claim. Please share and re-post.
