Long Time Teacher Deserves Recognition

Long Time Teacher Deserves Recognition
The Issue
This coming year, Yeshiva University High School for Boys is honoring their whole faculty. While this is a very nice gesture, many teachers have already won an award. However, Rabbi Mayer Schiller has not. Rabbi Schiller retired last year after working in MTA for decades. He has contributed greatly in many ways. In addition to winning more yeshiva league hockey championships than anyone to ever live, Rabbi Schiller has also taught Yiddish, Gemara, Halacha and Chumash. Rabbi Schiller left a tremendous impact on all his students. His office cubicle always had a line of students wanting to talk to him and he answers calls from students into the late hours of the night. He speaks to students over vacations as well. This year, his first year not as a full-time Rebbe, Rabbi Schiller still gives many optional shiurim on Chumash, the topic of Torah U'Madda and other topics that interest the student body and alumni. He also writes for MTA publications and actively advises the Editors of The Academy News and Shema Koleinu. It will be a disgrace to not honor such a man whose work for MTA we have just begun to scratch the surface of with this brief bio.
