We, Yale SOM students and alumni, are shocked and disappointed by the recent decision to reject Professor Florian Ederer's application for tenure. We call upon Yale SOM to immediately reverse this unfortunate decision and to work to retain him as a professor.

The Yale SOM community members and donors admire Prof. Ederer for his research, teaching, and, most importantly, the person that he is.  Professor Ederer is an intelligent, motivated, fast-paced, and innovative professor, combining high levels of creativity and intellectual depth with years of real-life professional experience.  He encourages his students to think of problems as opportunities and always manages to introduce an innovative solution to every difficult situation we present to him.  Professor Ederer is not only an outstanding teacher but also a delightful person. His enthusiasm for creating success through business strategy is infectious. He is lively, polite, and respectful.

We all feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from a professor of such quality and are saddened by the thought that future generations may not be able to do the same if the current decision is not immediately reversed. For the sake of future generations of SOM students, we believe it would be wise to do everything possible to keep Professor Ederer with SOM for years to come.
