KEEP XCEL ENERGY HIGH TRANSMISSION POWER LINES OUT OF THE BIJOU BASIN IN COLORADO

KEEP XCEL ENERGY HIGH TRANSMISSION POWER LINES OUT OF THE BIJOU BASIN IN COLORADO
The Issue
Xcel energy of Colorado wants to install high transmission power lines through the Bijou basin, which cuts through Elbert County and El Paso County in order to feed new and existing solar and wind farms. Those who own properties in these potential projected transmission line areas are facing the threat of potential eninent domain, long-term health issues, property values decreasing as much as 45%, extreme negative impacts on local wildlife and environment such as extreme negative visual impacts in scenic areas. Additionally property owners adjacent to solar and wind farms are subject to blighted areas blacked out by massive solar farms. Light pollution created by beacon lights on top of windmills flashing 24 hours a day. Wind farms killing thousands of birds each year and Solar farms are large fenced in parcels that greatly reduce wildlife migration patterns and grazing land potential. Thus reducing the potential population of many various types of wildlife.
The claimed sustainable and renewable energy provided by these clean energy solar / wind farms are not sustainable in the regard that the majority of the materials used to compose the windmills and solar panels are not recyclable whatsoever. And require replacement in relative short intervals with 3 to 4-year life spans. According to Xcel energy representatives recycling of these materials is cost prohibitive and they currently have no plans in place for improving potential for recycling.
