As you may be aware, the Wyomissing Borough Council decided with a 4-3 vote that Wyomissing recreational facilities (pool and tennis courts) should remain closed for the duration of the summer. We question how this decision was made as Berks County has entered into a phase of reopening that allows these types of activities, and seems to be on the right track to move into “green” rather quickly.

As residents, we feel strongly that this decision was made without any consideration of our youth and their ability to have some sense of normalcy this summer. In addition, as tax paying residents, we should question the justification to collect full taxes, but not allow use of the facilities that we are all paying to uphold - especially when we are willing to use them under social distance guidelines. Please sign this petition to ask that the Borough Council reconsider their stance on opening up the Wyomissing Pool and tennis courts for the summer of 2020.

These certainly are unique times and circumstances, and we recognize that precautions will need to made, but we feel strongly that this decision was not made in the best interest of the community.
