The Vivotecnia laboratory continues to experiment with animals!
After several months in confinement, the animals are still being used for experiments, despite the video published by Cruelty Free International in April.
Video: Toxicity testing on animals at Vivotecnia, Spain by: Cruelty Free International
Last April, a video published by Cruelty Free International uncovered the reality that hundreds of abused animals were living in the Vivotecnia laboratory in Madrid. At that time, the Community of Madrid suspended the research activity of the laboratory "after verifying in an inspection indications of animal abuse".
For months, dozens of animal organizations and thousands of activists have demonstrated in the cities of our country calling for the confiscation of the animals. Some even showed up at the doors of said laboratory in Tres Cantos with the aim of getting the animals out of that hell, but nothing worked.
Although it was initially expected that the animals could be released, the Community of Madrid lifted on June 1 the precautionary suspension of the animal experimentation activity. Animanaturalis has announced on its website that "all organizations request the confiscation of the animals as a precautionary measure", but this request was rejected by the Court of Colmenar Viejo, due, in its opinion, "lack of evidence of animal abuse". Given the inaction of administrations, we called a demonstration in Madrid on May 29 in which thousands of people went to Puerta del Sol under the slogan #RescateVivotecnia. However, the Community of Madrid kept its silence. Now, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food has decreed the restart of the experimentation activity in Vivotecnia, something that the entities lament and criticize profusely. "We will continue to fight in the courts to free the animals. We demand that the Government invest in validating and investigating alternative methods to end cruel experimentation on animals. It has no place in today's society, empathetic and that watches over animal welfare", the organizations have indicated in a joint statement.
In addition, they affirm that all the reporting entities will continue with the judicial process, with the aim of safeguarding the animals.
Please help us put pressure on the government of the Madrid community to put an end to the torment of hundreds of animals and so that abusive workers can be prosecuted in court.
Thank you!
