WVU Online Classes; 12/6 - 12/10
In light of the recently received anonymous messages, WVU has primarily had classes go online on Monday, December 6th. It has come to the attention of many that not all students had classes changed online; but rather, mandatory classes with exams to be attended regardless of the threats received towards the campus. This is simply an unacceptable action by the university, especially considering the overall state of the country and West Virginia with recent school shootings and threats.
After COVID-19, traditional school-work and career work alike noticed a dramatic change with online classes and online work. As a student graduating relatively soon, I can assure that most if not ALL companies are heavily considering transitioning to 80%+ of online work given the efficiency and positive results from the period during the pandemic. I find it highly reasonable and likely that colleges will adopt this system as well and slowly transition online. With these threats coming in, this is a great opportunity to ensure the safety of the West Virginia University community and begin exercising new abilities of Zoom and other online resources.
Classes should be moved online from 12/6 (Monday) - 12/10 (Friday). With the exception of labs, it is entirely too easy to make a Zoom link and share it with students like professors have done the last two years. Safety should be the number one priority of any University within the country.
If you find yourself in agreement with this petition, please share it with friends and family. Additionally, I would recommend sharing this too important WVU accounts that can make a change. I’ve provided a list below. Thank you and stay safe!
