Wrongly Convicted ESSIE NOOER
The Issue

My name is Essie Nooner. I am 30 years old and have been incarcerated since I was 18 years old after being wrongfully convicted of first-degree murder and attempted murder. For the past 13 years, I have fought every day to prove my innocence and seek the justice that I have been denied.
I am the third oldest of four siblings, raised on the South Side of Chicago. I am also the proud father of a beautiful 16-year-old daughter. Missing so many years of her life, along with precious moments with my family and loved ones, has been one of the most painful consequences of my wrongful conviction.
Although incarceration has taken away years that I can never get back, it has also helped me grow, mature, and develop a deeper appreciation for life, family, and freedom. Being separated from society for more than a decade has given me a new perspective and strengthened my determination to make the most of every opportunity I am blessed with.
Today, I am asking for your support. Whether you sign this petition, share it with family and friends, post it on social media, or help spread awareness in any way possible, your support can make a difference in my fight for justice.
Attached is a letter from a former head State’s Attorney, written in 2023, acknowledging evidence that supports my innocence. This letter represents an important step toward exposing the truth and correcting a wrongful conviction.
I refuse to give up hope. I will continue fighting for my life, my freedom, my daughter, and the opportunity to return home to my family. Every signature, share, and prayer brings me one step closer to justice.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for standing with me in my pursuit of truth and freedom.
Sincerely,
Essie Nooner
