Why?
 I am ready to respond to the social media ban, I am worried that I will not have enough things to do to stop boredom. I am also worried that I will be isolated from my friends with reduced ways to communicate with them. I think we need to have more safe spaces, in particular youth centres, where young people can go for entertainment, support, and interactions with other teenagers. 

I would say specifically we need youth centres for 12-16 year olds. I have created this petition to get support for this to then send to the government, to refund youth centres like they did in 90’s.

What is a youth centre?

A youth centre is a place where young people can meet and participate in various activities, including sports, board games, video games, arts and crafts, etc. Youth centres provide a safe space where young people can grow their social skills and receive support by trusted adults.

Benefits

Youth centres can provide stronger social skills and belonging, especially if a teenager struggle socially or feel excluded. These centres will give teenagers free and affordable activities which is currently lacked in Australia and gives teenagers somewhere to belong when the social media ban is in place.
