The Alaska is a T9 “Super” Heavy cruiser. In her current state she is severely lacking in terms of gun dispersion and armor. Her pick rate is very low not because she’s unattainable but because players know she’s not competitive. 

Guns: At present the guns are extremely inaccurate and somewhat lack penetration. The former being the main issue of concern. Even with her precise aims she still struggles to land more than 3-5 shells against battleships let alone cruisers! That’s similar to battleships of her tier (maybe even a little worse)! Now some may say, “these are battleship guns, they’re supposed to have bad dispersion.” Of which I disagree simply because they’re of a smaller caliber relative to the “normal” battleship calibers seen at these tiers. The 305mm guns it possesses isn’t capable of anywhere near the alpha damage lets say the Iowa’s 406mm guns possess. Now being of a lower caliber this is somewhat compensated with a quicker reload but what good is a quicker reload if you can’t manage to consistently land shells on target? Having both a lower alpha and bad dispersion is not completely  compensated with a lower reload. In order to give this ship the competitive edge it deserves, it needs a dispersion buff. 

Armor: The armor of the Alaska is lackluster to say the least. I understand this is NOT a battleship by any means. It’s armor should not be anywhere near the realms of a battleship’s. However, historically these ships were designed to fight and destroy heavy cruisers. They were given just enough armor to withstand shells of heavy cruisers. This was done because they still had to maintain their high speed. However, Alaska in-game, cannot withstand the “normal” shells of the other heavy cruisers currently. The solution? Simply give them enough armor to withstand the heavy cruisers but not enough for battleship shells. 

Of the two issues I’ve stated above I’d rather see Alaska’s dispersion buffed. It is simply horrendous in its current state and needs to be looked into. However, both these issues are valid and need to be considered. Alaska is an outstanding ship in World of Warships PC and she deserves to be in Blitz as well!
