The Issue

Every day, I walk my child to their nursery, a routine filled with laughter and bonding moments. However, with the upcoming construction of 58 new homes by Woodstock Homes, this daily experience becomes fraught with concern over road safety.

Currently, the roads around our cherished nursery site are busy, and the idea that this will soon worsen is worrying. Imagine adding the traffic from 58 additional homes! It's crucial for Woodstock Homes to prioritize the safety of our children and the tranquility of our neighborhood.

Increased traffic isn't just an inconvenience; it is a tangible risk. According to the World Health Organization, road traffic accidents are among the leading causes of death globally for children. By implementing thoughtful safety measures now, Woodstock Homes can help mitigate these risks and protect our children's futures.

We propose that Woodstock Homes incorporates essential safety features during their development phase. These should include: 1) the consideration of selling or gifting a small parcel of land to increase size of carpark; 2) creating dedicated pedestrian crossings/signage, ensuring that children have a safe path; and 3) engaging with the local community through a safety consultation, to align on best safety practices.

These safety measures are not just beneficial, but necessary. The peace of mind for parents and safety of our children must be placed at the forefront of development plans. Our children are our future and their safety should be everyone's priority.

Please sign this petition to urge Woodstock Homes to include vital safety measures in their upcoming development plan. Together, let's make the nursery site a safer place for our children to learn, grow, and continue their joyful walks to school without fear.
