WoodiesDIY Stores: Stop destroying rainforests-Please move on to Step 2
Woodies DIY stores sell bintangor-faced plywood. Bintangor trees are often illegally logged and this causes terrible forest destruction.

Dear Mr Colman,
Thank you very much for your email of Friday 14th December 2012. Just Forests are very pleased to learn that Woodies have taken step 1 of our request and removed the bintangor-faced Chinese-made plywood from your stores.
Bintangor (Calophyllum genus) is often illegally logged in primary rainforests of Papua New Guinea and Sarawak.
I am writing to you once again to encourage you to take the next step and replace it with Irish-made, FSC-certified panelboard product. This will help support much-needed jobs in both the Irish manufacturing and forestry sectors. This step is necessary, as it will give your customers peace of mind when buying timber and wood-based products in Woodies that you are complying with the highest international standards.
As a means of giving something back to communities that have been unjustly affected by illegal logging, Just Forests also want Woodies to support our just CARBON –Size of Phoenix Park (SOPP) Project. I would be delighted to meet with you to discuss ways in which Woodies staff and customers can support this project.
This SOPP project not only gives something back to rainforest communities but it also will help make Ireland more self-reliant in its on timber needs going forward while sequestering co2 emissions and providing wildlife habitats.
I look forward to hearing from you,
