This project directly impacts East Ridge High School

I encourage you to share this petition with people / groups associated with East Ridge High School - and here’s why

• The city only notified people within 500 ft (about 100 people) of this development, leaving a huge majority of people impacted unaware.
• The 8-acre (developable) lot is zoned low density, meaning that apx 29 single family homes / or a mix of a corresponding number of SF AND Townhomes were expected to be built here. However, the current plan includes 114 rental homes, (80 unit apartment and 34 townhomes) a 293% increase in housing units.
• The current school district is already over capacity with an over crowded school system and not enough Teachers. With this influx, something would have to change; will new school zones be redrawn? Will our children be pushed into larger classrooms?
• More and more kids are expected to walk to school. It’s a simple fact that high density housing brings a lot more people and with that brings more crime. See attached, Woodbury Crime Map. You’ll notice that larger commercial areas or apartment complexes are all dark colored, reflecting crime reports. Keep in mind, this area is apx 700 FEET AWAY FROM EAST RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL and kids will be walking / going past this area regularly. Not saying that apartment buildings are filled with crime or bad people, they certainly aren’t- simply calling out, the city of Woodbury data that shows CRIME SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASES in high density zones like this.
• Last note, this land was purchased in 2017 and is only now being pushed to build, now that the homeowners residences have been established. All while under the guise that the area left to be developed was a low density zone. Feels like a bit of bait and switch to me, as an investor / homeowner in the nearby area.
• There are several unfilled apartment complexes in Woodbury and this simply isn’t the location to build a high density neighborhood.

Please consider sharing this with people in the East Ridge School district. Also, continue to post on social, NextDoor, etc., to help get the word out. Then plan to show up at upcoming City Planning, and City Council meetings where this development will be discussed.  Dates of these two meetings are TBD but will be shared as soon as they become available.
