The WVA has worked hard to open select community pools. However, in deciding which pools to open they only considered staffing and capacity concerns. Larger pools got priority and on some level this makes sense. However, in deciding which pools to open the WVA did not elect to open Wintermist Pool, the Association's only fully accessible pool and spa complex. This is a major equity issue. WVA has approximately 30,000 individuals within the community with many elderly and disabled/limited mobility residents. This decision has in effect taken away our right to use its facilities within the community. 

WVA has stated that Fallbrook is an accessible facility, but this is only partially true. The spa has a gradient entry but the pool does not. WVA claims that a lift is available, but this requires assistance to operate and in my personal experience staff are not trained on how to use this tool. It's also not ideal for ambulatory residents who are unable to transfer easily. Wintermist allows users to enter and exit both pool and spa without staff intervention .
