Punish Woodbridge High School / Irvine students that posted racist content online
The Issue
Recently, students attending Woodbridge High School in Irvine posted content on Snapchat and other social media platforms that mocked the killing and memory of George Floyd. They also mocked those protesting racial justice in their community and repeatedly used the N-word to justify white supremacy. The Woodbridge high school administration has refused to hold these students accountable. IUSD has refused to hold these students accountable because it was not done in a school context. If you did this at work, you would be fired instantly, and never be allowed to work again.
: Posted "I hate N----" drawn in sharpie on his chest.
Cheerleader: Mocked black people and said the n-word opening online.
: Justified killing of George Floyd, called him "this one n------", felt bad for the police officer that murdered him.
And other students that have posted racist comments online.
These individuals should be held accountable. They need to be at least suspended, removed from all activities and privileges at school, and colleges should press for these individuals to issue public video apologies to BLM, the Black community in Irvine and in this nation.
If we don't hold these students accountable, we are allowing white supremacy to go through our communities unchecked, and we are turning a blind eye against systemic racism in our school systems. More and more students will do this and get away if we do not hold them accountable.
This petition is the new one cuz I'm an idiot and used the wrong pic.
