Recently in the United States women have been undergoing a series of discrimination that consists laws against their body that are chosen by individuals that do not have the same reproduction system as one. The Birth control movement in the United States that was formed in 1914 aimed to expand the availability and legalization of the pill through education and is still active today now towards the wish of the pill being free. Birth control is a contraception method that should be free for all women (as well as underage minorities) as it is a method that is important to women that promotes the prevention of unwanted pregnancies, regulations of menstruation cycles as well as cramps, regulation of hormonal imbalance, reducing risks of ovarian cysts (that could lead to ovarian cancer) etc. Birth control is apart of healthcare and they are essential as said by the American Academy of Pediatrics (https://www.aap.org/). Birth control is another method that is used as safety and protection for women that is working its way to being potentially banned in the future instead of leading to being free. The change is being made as the US Supreme Court denied the no-cost birth control and contraceptive coverage to their employees, nevertheless the rest of women. What we are currently struggling with is the instance that if you are underage you cannot obtain birth control pills without a prescription, even in general you need a prescription for the reason that at the end of the day it isn’t free yet it’s so significant for women. If this changes, women can be a step closer to equality because of the fact it would be a change started and achieved by women even if it isn’t major. We could potentially have more safer methods in the time that comes to carry out certain situations that women go through.
