Women Deserve To Know: Tell NY State to pass the Reproductive Rights Disclosure Act

The Issue

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby means that women in New York State are at risk of losing insurance coverage for prescription contraception. In the aftermath of that ruling, New Yorkers are standing together to say women deserve to know what coverage their boss provides.

NY State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and State Senate Democratic Conference Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins have announced the Reproductive Rights Disclosure Act, which would help to shield New York women from the effect of the Hobby Lobby decision. This critical bill would require employers to give 90 days’ notice before changing contraceptive coverage and to tell prospective employees what coverage they offer.

In making the announcement, Schneiderman said: “No woman should have her personal healthcare decisions dictated by the religious beliefs of her boss. In the wake of the Supreme Court’s deeply misguided Hobby Lobby decision, we need to go further to empower the women of New York State with the information they need to make their own healthcare choices.”

Now we need your help to get this bill passed into law. We're building a grassroots movement to get the Reproductive Rights Disclosure Act passed in Albany. Please join Attorney General Schneiderman by signing on as a grassroots sponsor of the bill, and tell the New York State Legislature to enact the Reproductive Rights Disclosure Act.
