The Minor Injuries Unit has now been closed for a number of months and we believe there should be a plan in place for its reopening. Whilst fully recognising the unprecedented challenges the NHS has faced it is important to have a long term vision for this vital facility. Sadly the unit was not reopened during the summer and this has increased the concerns of the County Councillors who believe it provides a vital service for the people of Cannock Chase. The public are now having to travel to Wolverhampton, Walsall or Stafford for the treatment of minor injuries or illnesses, this is not only inconvenient for Cannock Chase residents but also adds to the burden of the A&E units at these hospitals. We fervently believe in the benefit of this vital local service for local people”.
