Withdraw the new NMC notice on fmg’s compensation letter

The Issue

On 6th March 2026, a new notice was issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) that has caused considerable distress among Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) regarding their compensation letters. This petition addresses the urgent need to withdraw this notice and seeks to provide clarity and fairness for all FMGs affected by this decision.

In a recent telephonic conversation with the legal advisor of NMC, it was revealed that this notice was meant as a clarification of previous compensation directives issued on 7th December 2023 and 19th June 2024. The advisor emphasized that the responsibility lies with the State Medical Councils to verify the authenticity of compensation certificates issued by colleges. However, when questioned about the extension period in the current notice, there was no satisfactory response given, merely a vague reference to previous notice timelines.

This notice has left many FMGs in a state of uncertainty and has put the onus unfairly on them to navigate through bureaucratic processes with little guidance and support. FMGs are already facing numerous challenges, including adapting to new systems, acquiring necessary certifications, and fulfilling requirements for practising medicine. Adding an unclear compensation process exacerbates their struggles needlessly.

The lack of clarity and support from the NMC in addressing these concerns is jeopardizing the careers of dedicated medical graduates. It is crucial that the authorities recognize the errors in communication and take immediate steps to resolve this predicament.

We propose the following actions:

1. Immediate withdrawal of the current notice issued on 6th March 2026.
2. Organize a transparent dialogue involving representatives from the NMC, State Medical Councils, and FMGs to address unresolved issues.
3. Develop a clear and enforceable policy that outlines the roles and responsibilities of all parties in the verification of compensation certificates.

The future of many aspirant doctors hinges on the prompt resolution of these issues. We urge the NMC to consider the detrimental impact this notice has on FMGs and to rectify this situation with urgency.

Please sign this petition to demand fairness and transparency for all FMGs impacted by this notice.
