Dear Winthrop High School Students and Alumni,

As residents, students, alumni, etc.. Of Winthrop are aware, the new Winthrop Middle/ High School is in the process of being built and should be opened for the 2016-2017 school year! What most of you are not aware of is that the Winthrop School Committee is voting on Monday, September 14th on the name change of the new "Winthrop High School" and "Winthrop Middle School" to the rather popular vote "Winthrop Academy" along with a couple other proposed names. This petition is for the Viking Alumni and current students of Winthrop High School who are AGAINST the change also for those who want a say. We are a town of tradition, history, and generations of families who have passed through Winthrop High School and to change that would be changing our foundation of being the Winthrop Vikings!
