Winter Lighting for Bark Park (13900 No. 3 Road, Richmond BC)

Winter Lighting for Bark Park (13900 No. 3 Road, Richmond BC)
The Issue
During the winter months, Bark Park becomes extremely dark very early in the day. As daylight fades in the late afternoon, the park quickly becomes unsafe and unusable. The absence of lighting means that for part of the year, this beautiful community space is effectively lost to residents who would otherwise be there; walking, socializing, and caring for their dogs.
For many of us, Bark Park is more than just a dog park. It is a place where neighbours meet, friendships form, and dogs are able to run freely in a safe and natural environment. It is especially important during the winter months, when opportunities to be outdoors and connected to others are already limited. Seeing such a meaningful space sit empty for months simply because it is too dark feels deeply unfortunate.
We respectfully ask the City of Richmond to consider installing low impact lighting options, such as solar powered lights or dusk activated lighting, that would turn on when daylight fades. These solutions would improve safety and accessibility while still preserving the quiet, natural beauty of this beautiful riverfront setting.
