For years there has been gradual development in Winchester for all of its residents. Now Winchester is becoming less and less favourable for further development and are not achieving goals that other Cities have. There are many places in Winchester that enable a variety of groups to come together and have the freedom to come together, however there are particular groups that are unable to achieve community network. Over the years the amount of muslims in Winchester has increased drastically and as this continues to grow, there is further demand for a unit/place where they can come together as 1. As people are aware Muslims pray 5 times a day and believe that prayer in Congregation is not something that can be achieved in Winchester. During Ramadan the pressure becomes greater and muslims have to travel at least 10 miles to get to their local Mosque, The Council have helped with a unit for the past 2 Ramadans, however this has now been taken away from us. Rural places as small as Andover has a place where they can come together. A Mosque is not just a place for muslims it is a place of worship and every mosque will always recognise and be open to all faiths. Winchester City Council have led the community to believe they will achieve a place for us however, an obstacle always arises and all we want is to be heard fairly. The answer we get form The Council every time we ask is 'we are looking into it'. We are not being heard or taken seriously, and this has been the answer over generations. This also has an impact on muslim women coming together with health and life issues they cannot discuss outside of their community. Our children grow up not knowing their faith and are ashamed to admit who they are and what they believe in as the Country is led by Social media and only see the bad side of Islam. Not having the place to teach and give this generation the correct knowledge is having a huge impact on them.  We want the Council to hear that we are serious and are in need of somewhere and anywhere and we are willing to pay the cost. We want Winchester to have the qualities of many cities but right now it is embarrassing for us to show we have nothing in the town most of us were born in!
