This is Wiltshire Council's initial (and 'final') response to our petition to Wiltshire Council.

It is a response in keeping with Wiltshire Council's general attitude and method of operation. Dismissal of anything and everything that it wishes to ignore.

"Dear Mr Couchman,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us in regard to your petition: Petition · Save Community Services · Change.org

Since receiving your petition, I have been in contact with the Monitoring Officer for Wiltshire Council, who has reviewed your petition against Paragraph 2.1.6 of Part 4A of the Constitution:

The Monitoring Officer has since concluded that your petition is in conflict with Paragraph 2.1.6.

Therefore, having considered the policy and in particular that provision, your petition will therefore not receive a further response.

Kind Regards"

So, there it is: The same dismissive attitude we have come to expect from Wiltshire Council regarding any issue or complaint.

Well I am not finished with them and I will continue to promote this Petition and share it as widely as I can, Including to Wiltshire Councillors, The Social Media and Local Media.

I suggest you all do the same. Wiltshire Council relies upon it's constant rejections will wear people down.

That is why we started this Petition, to expose their unprofessional, dismissive attitude towards those they have a duty towards and those they are answerable to.

This is my response to Wiltshire Council's Monitoring Officer:

Thank you for your reply.

I challenge Wiltshire Monitoring Officer concluded that our petition is in conflict with Paragraph 2.1.6.

This remains a valid petition, by a recognised Petitioning Agency and the content is legally acceptable. Names are mentioned only in the updates and are well evidenced and relate to legally challengeable actions by those people (I am happy to support these challenges in any Court).

As far as I am concerned the Petition is quite clear, concise and relates to the general operation of Wiltshire Council, including its inadequate and ineffectual complaints department. All else is legitimate evidence and examples that support that simple challenge and requirements of the Petition.

The petitioners are all Wiltshire residents and/or members of family supporting the situation of their families in Wiltshire. You have enough details to identify them.

Many Wiltshire people who are employed by Wiltshire Council support this petition, but are inhibited in signing because of Wiltshire Councils punitive treatment of Employees who speak out (Evidenced).

We are, therefore, challenging the Monitoring Officer for the same general dismissive attitude Wiltshire Officers show toward the people of Wiltshire that they have a duty to listen to and appropriately respond to (Those Petitioning and others).

Once more, your legal advisors are letting you down. I will be sharing your (and your Monitoring Officers) response with the people of Wiltshire and Wiltshire Council. As far as I am concerned, this is further evidence of Wiltshire Council’s avoiding legal responsibility.

Given the inadequate response we will further promote this Petition for as long as it takes. I will also be advising the petitioners to contact their own and other Wiltshire Councillors until we get an appropriate response and a marked improvement in the community services provided by Wiltshire Council.

Regards,

Terry Couchman
