It doesn't take much research to realise that Wiltshire Highways Department have failed to maintain our roads and pavements.
The consequences are clear enough to all road users in most of our towns and villages throughout most of Wiltshire.
Cycles, Mopeds & Motorbikes are at risk of accidents, resulting in injury & death because of Potholes and sunken Drain inspection covers.
Cars are also affected by this and the poor road surface maintenance, using cheap surface contractors to resurfaces, which fail within 2 years.
These problems are acerbated by poor maintenance of hedgerows and overhanging trees, which create hazards and obscure signage.
Another consequence is trees adjacent to pavements and on Wiltshire land are aggressively lopped every 5 years, rather than pruned yearly.
The same can be seen in Wiltshire increasingly expensive Car parks, where surfaces and bay markings have seriously degraded.
Basically every aspect of Wiltshire Highways have degraded and the repairs undertaken are of a low quality, because of poor 'cheap' contract decisions.
Too much is spent on executive salaries of our highly centralised offices, where staffing cuts means there is not enough checks undertaken, or money left to spend on meeting their highway responsibilities.
