People often feel powerless in the face of Authorities and the challenges many of us face every day. That feeling is understandable and is the result of a recurrent process of 'Institutionalisation'.
This is the result of officials trying to ensure that Laws & Rules are adhered to. That is fine, but eventually these become so convoluted and restrictive that our freedoms and rights are affected.
This is made all the worse because of cutbacks in the numbers of people and resources available to ensure that the rules and services are applied properly and effectively.
There comes a point where the people most skilled in administering the services to our communities become overwhelmed, stressed, fall ill and leave. This often leaves a skeleton crew of less experienced.
The Social Care and Community Care Ship is sinking and the Authorities have to accept that it is the Community that is in the best position to bail them our. Unfortunately our Authorities make that almost impossible.
Every kind of Social and Community Service we have today was originally developed by dedicated Community |volunteer groups and the Authorities once learned it was best to work with the Community.
Those days are gone and Local Authorities often now work in their own best interests, which often means that their services become authoritarian, restricting and ineffective.
It is important that we challenge that deterioration our 'OUR' Community Services, paid for by us and developed in the interests of positively and constructively supporting 'everyone' in need and those who wish to help.
There are people working within our Local Authorities and even dedicated & committed Councilors who want to see change for the better, but they are overwhelmed by poorly skilled and Controlling Jobsworths.
How do I know this? I have Worked within Local Authorities, I have been a Local Councilor and I have worked with Local Authorities within Communities for the last 50 years.
