The Issue
I, Barbara Wilson, the proud owner and operator of Wilson Firework in Moss Point, Mississippi, am writing this petition to request a variance that would allow our store and trailers to remain in place permanently on Main St and Temple St. We have been serving the community for 14 years without any issues or concerns while strictly adhering to compliance rules. However, there is now an attempt to change the regulations that could force us to move our trailers between seasons.
As a small business owner who has dedicated countless hours and resources into building Wilson Firework into what it is today, I strongly believe that our presence on Main St and Temple St greatly contributes to the local economy and community spirit. Our fireworks have become a tradition for many families during special occasions such as Independence Day celebrations.
The proposed change would not only disrupt our operations but also negatively impact the local community. By forcing us to relocate our trailers between seasons, it would create unnecessary inconvenience for both customers and employees. Additionally, it could potentially lead to financial losses for our business due to increased costs associated with moving equipment. I will have to close the 2 stores the cost to move is to high
It is important to note that we have successfully operated under similar conditions with the state's approval for over a decade. We have never violated compliance rules or caused any issues whatsoever during this time. Therefore, I firmly believe that granting us a variance should be considered fair given our track record of responsible operation.
