Dear Willie Fritz,

Today the Krewe of Endymion announced that Mel Gibson, well known for his racism, misogyny, and antisemitism will be sharing the title of Grand Marshal with you in the 2023 Krewe of Endymion parade.

We the undersigned, feel that if the Krewe of Endymion does not remove Mr. Gibson, you should pull out of the parade and not be associated with this Krewe. Being a Grand Marshal is an honor that should not be associated with a legacy of hate speech. As a Head Coach at Tulane University--a school with a large Jewish undergraduate population and alumni base--it is egregiously offensive to the Tulane community for you to share parade duties with a Holocaust denier.

Having had the best single season turnaround in college football history, winning the first major bowl game in nearly 100 years for the Tulane Green Wave, and being awarded the Dodd Trophy for best head coach in NCAA college football, you are greatly deserving of the honor of being a Grand Marshal. We guarantee that other Mardi Gras krewes will gladly honor you with similar accolades and positions of prominence in their parades. We humbly ask that you do not tarnish your reputation and legacy at Tulane University by riding next to such a hateful person.
