No one likes getting changed on the windy Esplanade footpath near the diners at The Kiosk - and thanks to our petition the council is hearing our request for reasonable facilities.

Hobsons Bay City Council wrote to me this week explaining that the current facilities have been out of order but have now been repaired and will be unlocked and open every day - so that's a small step forward.

Our petition was presented to council last Tuesday, when it had 940 signatures. Thanks to everyone who has clicked through and added their name.

Three of the seven HBCC councillors have written to me saying they support our petition and understand the need for upgraded toilets, changerooms and showers. They want to ensure the Williamstown Beach Redevelopment Project includes better public facilities.

BUT the project scope documents must be changed to ensure this happens. Right now the project does not include significant upgrades to the public facilities - and this needs to change.

So the petition is still online, live and collecting signatures.

The more support it gets, the harder it is to ignore. Please share the petition with your friends, other beach users and anyone who has ever visited Williamstown Beach. This is the link:

Now is the time to act to ensure some of the $14 million of public funding is spent on public beach facilities for all of us.

Thanks,

Jason
