Boston College: Stand in Solidarity With Protestors Now and In The Future!

Boston College: Stand in Solidarity With Protestors Now and In The Future!
The Issue
Boston College teaches its students to value the service of others, and to always strive to act against injustice.
More importantly, we have been taught to act against injustice in the communities around us.
It is now time for Boston College to not just release statements, but act to stand in solidarity with movements against police brutality and a dysfunctional criminal justice system.
Boston College must not only act against injustice now, but more importantly, act to create lasting change:
1). Boston College must donate to the Massachusetts Bail Fund to ensure peaceful protesters are not incarcerated without trial simply because they cannot afford bail. That, however, is not enough. Bail also disproportionately impacts poorer communities, especially communities of color-therefore, Boston College must make this donation a recurring one.
2). Boston College must demand that the BCPD be removed from current protests in Franklin and any other protests, and require that in the future the BCPD only be allowed to respond to peaceful protests when they are on Boston College's Chestnut Hill, Brighton, and Newton campuses.
3). Boston College must replace BCPD Commissioner Evans. Under his tenure at the Boston Police, several racially motivated incidents by the Boston Police occurred. He has violated the laws of Boston by contracting and cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement after the Boston Trust Act was established. While he may not have been personally involved, he is a symbol of the injustices committed by these institutions.
4) Remove District Attorney Darcel Clark from the Board of Trustees. When Layleen Polanco, a trans woman, died of a seizure, Darcel Clark refused to prosecute the guards that stood by and refused to help her for an hour and a half.
5) Address the many allegations of racially-motivated misconduct by BCPD and Boston College faculty discussed on the Instagram account blackatbostoncollege.
Let's change things, Boston College.
