On the 19th of January 2017 empire skatepark, the only remaining indoor skatepark in Colchester (after the closure of demonXtreme skatepark) was closed down.  This forced locals to attend the outdoor skateparks which don’t have the same safe and secure environment that an indoor skatepark would provide. Not only this, but in the winter months skatepark users are forced to stay inside or resort to using carparks to shelter from the rain if they want to do their hobby.An indoor skatepark would provide a safe place for people to use asswell as keep them dry.
