The Issue

Every year California and Canada have massive wildfires, that pollute the air for large portions of the Continental United States. These wild fires could easily be mitigated if California and Canada would resume doing controlled burns. In a misled attempt to preserve the environment they end up causing more harm. The ideal outcome is that either legislation, or lawsuits be created requiring California and Canada to be forced to pay compensation to everyone effected by the smoke that their out of control wildfires cause each year, and be held accountable for the damage done to the environment. This level of air pollution can be detrimental to the health of millions of people; causing health concerns, and exacerbating pre-existing health issues. The smoke from the fires also has a drastically devastating effect on all of the flora and fauna in the affected areas. There are thousands of people, and potentially millions of animals displaced by this every year. This environmental disaster could be significantly mitigated with controlled burns in the at risk areas. Therefore the governing bodies responsible need to be held accountable.
