Change the Name of Orphanage #change orphanage name
The Issue
I want that the name of the orphanage should be changed to CHILD SELF SUFFICIENT SHELTER (CSSS) because the word Orphan means who has no one or is helpless!!
But there are millions of people who come forward to help such children.
Children learn to be self-sufficient in an orphanage, which is why it should be named CHILD SELF SUFFICIENT SHELTER ( CSSS).
Orphanages in India provide safe Places for homeless street children in India, orphanages are intrinsically a place of cruelty for children, even if they want kindness and goodness, Sexual Abuse, Child Labor, Psychological Violence with children are common in orphanages and children's homes ,A list of child rights violations happening in the orphanage in India should be investigated and a solution should be found out. This is even more pressing as many of these orphanages enjoy the charity and kindness of India’s public-hearted citizens.
Poor infrastructure
With such shocking lack of concern, it is not a surprise that there is minimal investment on infrastructure. Across reports submitted to the government, poor infrastructure are common. Poor lighting, cramped accommodation, regular violence as a means of discipline instead of proper child behavior methods are just some examples of poor infrastructure at orphanages. This is all exacerbated by the Lack of well-trained, educated staff that treat helpless homeless children and their distinctive needs with empathy.
Orphanages are instead ‘ruled’ with fear. Children are also kept unaware of their rights, and who they can report child rights violations to. Abuse is carried out by personnel appointed at these institution, including wardens, watchmen, cooks, and other staff who carry out abuse
Orphans, despite parents & Falling adoption levels
Many children are not really orphans, children are put in an orphanage because their parents find it difficult to take care of them! Often this is due to the mother's absence or careless father, working mother and step mother! The parents do not have time to take care of the children, so they consider the orphanage better than their home care, this is because the parents are unaware of the actual conditions of the orphanage.Due to increase in surrogacy, couples today can choose this option over orphanage. Further, many couples even return children they have adopted back to agencie. According to a Supreme Court PIL, over 11 million children were abandoned in India in 2013, most of whom were girls.
Lack of education and money scams in food and medicine
Education is very lacking in government and non-government orphanages, crores of rupees are given by the government every year, good food, medicines are given and people also donate on their behalf,
But the employees of the orphanage scam in money, food grains and things found on behalf of the people, grab a huge amount of money, and keep the good food items with them or sell it in the market, showing false accounts. Survive the investigation, and Children are given dirty food, which reads the effect on their health
Conclusion
Save the Children, India’s leading child rights NGO believes in empowering communities with the capabilities to provide basic care to children. It is enabling families to access essential information, nutrition, and health care services. Institutional care should be the last resort, the NGO believes. It works across geographies to promote family, kinship and alternative care. Insead of supporting orphanages, donate to NGO fundraising to ensure essential resources and child protection services meet at-risk children. Donors will also receive a substantial donation tax rebate.
