The Issue

This petition is to support healthcare workers in our great state of Wisconsin!

If you support the healthcare workers who are working tirelessly to combat the COVID pandemic, PLEASE SIGN! We want Governor Evers, WI senator's and local legislature to know you stand with our nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, CNAs, and everyone working in any medical facility that is overwhelmed due to the surge in COVID patients. It's time to support our healthcare workers and show them they are not alone! People are losing their lives, families across the state are suffering and the number keeps going up.

Many bars in the college city of Eau Claire are packed most nights near the college and other areas of the city, while the hospitals in Eau Claire are overwhelmed and the staff are working overtime to help our increasingly sick number of patients and compensate for our coworkers who are out due to COVID, as is the case in many areas of our state! We need to stand for ALL the healthcare workers in our state during this time. They need your support! Many healthcare workers are sacrificing their health and time with their family to take care of fellow Wisconsin families due to the surge in COVID. Our schools are closing down for our children and bars are allowed to stay open?! Does that make any sense?

The act of consuming alcohol means masks are not being worn in public places and alcohol intake impairs judgement. Over consumption of alcohol leads to individuals not performing proper hand hygiene patterns, as well as has an opposite effect on proper social distancing,  which both are key components to stopping the spread of COVID as outlined by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Let's work together to overturn/counter sue the Tavern League of WIsconsn's lawsuit against bar closures in our state, as bars and taverns are a source of major COVID spread.

Messages have been sent to our local government to call for bar closures until after the holidays. We fear most of the customers in the packed college area bars, will likely go home to see their families next week for the holidays and again over Christmas. Thus making our state and nationwide crisis worse. Healthcare workers fear January will be the worst month yet as we are already in crisis, tired, overcrowded and our resources strained.

As a nurse working in the ER of an overcrowded Wisconsin hospital, driving down the street to see overcrowded bars, knowing what our medical teams are going through every day and that many of our children aren't able to attend school in person, it is difficult to do nothing while the Governor's safety orders are being shut down or not taken seriously. Meanwhile organizations like The Tavern League of WI are suing the state over closures and capacity limits in bars, thus enhancing strain on healthcare workers on the frontlines and Wisconsin families that are struggling to provide education at home for their children through virtual learning.

Please #Stand4WIHealthcareWorkers

Furthermore, we don't want our hardworking business owners and our fellow WI citizens to struggle as we work towards controlling the COVID crisis. I propose bars, taverns and other sources of major spread that would be affected by the closures we propose and feel are necessary, receive government stimulus grants or other sources of aid to ensure their business can survive during pandemic hardship. We need to work together! We've lost too many people already!

Please support healthcare workers and Wisconsin families combat the Tavern League of WI lawsuits so we can shut down non-essential sources of COVID spread!  SIGN and SHARE this petition to spread the word!
