Return Hazard Pay to Whole Foods Market Employees During Covid-19 Pandemic

Return Hazard Pay to Whole Foods Market Employees During Covid-19 Pandemic

The Issue

Grocery store and other essential workers have been working non stop to feed our communities and maintain our economy and infrastructure during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Whole Foods Market, in particular, has seen an increase in business as customers navigate restaurant closures, as well as ordering groceries online through our mother company, Amazon.

Employees of Whole Foods Market received Hazard Pay (an additional $2 extra per hour) from April 24 until June 5, a total of 7 weeks. While our hazard pay has been withdrawn, the pandemic continues to infect Americans at record breaking rates. Amazon, also, is making record breaking profits as it's employees risk their lives to come to work.

As an actual employee of Whole Foods Market, and in solidarity with all working class people, I am calling for John Mackey and Walter Robb to reinstate hazard pay for all Whole Foods Market employees, as well as the shoppers of Amazon Flex services, which pick and sort groceries from our Whole Foods Stores to deliver to Amazon patrons in select areas.

As the employees of the Whole Foods and Amazon conglomerate, who literally create the unprecedented wealth we are seeing from these corporate entities during the global pandemic, the bare request is to reinstate our hazard pay for as long as the global pandemic goes without a cure or vaccine.

Please sign & share. Reinstatement of hazard pay during the Covid-19 crisis is justice for the working class. The graphic chosen for this campaign was found on Left Out Magazine.
