I strongly urge you to read the linked, Columbus Dispatch article, "Employees stealing drugs from Ohio pharmacies, health care facilities"
The state legislature is considering licensing the 42,000 pharmacy techs in an attempt to curb the raging, drug epidemic.
"Few safeguards exist to prevent pharmacy technicians, a largely unregulated field, from stealing drugs, then getting a job at another pharmacy."
So, what about Ohio animal hospitals, veterinarians, and vet techs? The vet hospitals do not have site licenses. So, the exact number of animal hospitals cannot be known for certain.
Additionally, since a very small number of animal hospitals are inspected each year and there are no "surprise inspections", as other states have, the true conditions and operations of the facilities also cannot be known.
