President Trump plans to use a luxury Boeing 747 gifted by the Qatari royal family as his version of Air Force One — but experts say it will cost up to $1 billion and take years to retrofit to meet presidential and security standards.

That price tag - all paid by US taxpayers.

According to NBC News, the plane — a Qatari-owned aircraft valued at over $400 million — will need extensive modifications before it can be used safely and securely by a sitting U.S. president.

National security upgrades, defense systems, secure communications, and custom retrofitting could put the total cost in the hundreds of millions, if not more.

The White House has not released a full budget, timeline, or legal explanation for such "gift" — despite the enormous public investment it may require.

We call on the White House and Office of Management and Budget to publicly disclose how much taxpayer money will be used to retrofit the Qatari jet.

Explain how this arrangement serves the public interest — not just the president’s image.
