Incarcerated 30 yrs for Marijuana

Incarcerated 30 yrs for Marijuana
The Issue
My fiancé, Kevin Harden, is currently serving a disproportionate 30-year federal sentence for a nonviolent marijuana offense. He has been incarcerated since 2012 — for a plant that is now legal in many states and generating billions of dollars in tax revenue across the country, while individuals like Kevin remain behind bars. Kevin is not a violent man. He is not a threat to society. He is a father, a fiancé, a son, and a man with hopes, dreams, and a heart full of love for his family. He has already served over a decade of his life in prison — not for harming anyone, but for being caught up in a justice system that, at the time, imposed excessively harsh penalties for drug-related offenses. Today, cannabis is a regulated industry, and Americans are launching businesses and building wealth off the very same substance. Yet Kevin, and so many like him, remain incarcerated under outdated laws that no longer reflect the will or values of the people. We are calling on President Trump, the Department of Justice, and the Office of the Pardon Attorney to act now. Kevin Harden deserves a second chance. He has used his time in prison to grow, reflect, and stay grounded in faith. He has not allowed the prison walls to destroy his spirit — but no one should have to lose their youth, their family, and their future over a plant that is no longer even considered criminal in most of this country. This petition is not just for Kevin. It’s for every man and woman still incarcerated for nonviolent marijuana convictions. We urge you, Mr. President: Use your clemency powers. Right this wrong.Kevin Harden should not spend another year — let alone another decade — in prison for something that the world has since moved on from.
Help us bring Kevin home. Help us restore his freedom, his dignity, and his future.
