Wheelchair for Elderly at Changi (Singapore airport)
Wheelchair for Elderly at Changi (Singapore airport)
Why this petition matters
Hi All,
My mother went back to India last week via Singapore Airline, we had wheelchair assistance booked for her as she can't walk too much and has medical condition.
At Sydney airport, staff were amazing providing wheelchair assistance but at Singapore Airport (Changi) we had terrible experience.
As she had assistance booked she was held back in flight till all passengers were aboard the plane, but when she got out of plane there was no wheelchair available.
I am not sure whether it was the airport staff or Singapore airline staff’s responsibility to get the passengers to next gate (flight) when wheelchair assistance is booked, but it was terrible service.
There were 5-6 elderly passengers waiting for wheelchairs which never came and staff was asking them to walk to the next gate and apparently it was not the first time it happened.
She had only 50 min to check in to next flight and not having wheelchair assistance she was anxious. Lucky for us one of the passenger came back to check on her and helped her boarding next flight from Singapore to India.
If they can’t provide wheelchair assistance please don’t pretend and say upfront. I am sure most of the passengers are happy to pay for wheelchair assistance if that's what it takes to improve the service.
I can understand it might be Changi airport responsibility but someone has to be accountable for this. it shouldn't be bureaucratic pass-the-parcel.
How difficult it would be for Singapore airline to transfer the data for wheelchair assistance requirement from flight details to Changi airport?
It's not rocket science.
Hoping to get better service in future for elderly passengers.
