Reports and firsthand accounts indicate

·      Constitutional Rights Violations- Offenders retain protection under the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments. These rights are being ignored or actively suppressed.

·      Misconduct by law enforcement- Unlawful searches, coercive tactics, retaliation, and disregard for due process.

·      Judicial Abuse-Biased rulings, denial of fair hearings, and failure to uphold constitutional standards.

·      Public Defender Failures- Inadequate representation, neglect of clients' rights, and failure to challenge unlawful actions.

·      States Attorney Misconduct- Withholding evidence, discriminatory practices, and pursuing convictions at the expense of Justice.

These actions violate federal, state law, and erode public trust in LaSalle County’s justice system.

OUR DEMANDS

We call for immediate action, including:

·      Independent Investigations into all reported constitutional violations.

·      Public Transparency, including release of findings and identification of responsible parties.

·      Mandatory Oversight of law enforcement, judicial conduct, and prosecutorial practices.

·      Accountability Measures, including disciplinary action, removal from office, or prosecution were called for.

·      Protection for Offenders, ensuring access to fair representation, due process, and humane treatment.

·      Community Involvement in oversight boards and justice reform initiatives.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Constitutional rights do not disappear in a courtroom, during an arrest, or behind bars. When officials in positions of power violate these rights, they commit unlawful acts- and the community has both the right and responsibility to human accountability.
