A JOURNEY THROUGH THE PICTURESQUE OUPA FATS WETLANDS, LENASIA'S SOMEWHAT FORGOTTEN YET STUNNING ADJACENT EVERGLADES
(Videos 1 to 15)

On Monday, 19th October 2020, Lenasia Times accompanied renowned and popular Oupa Fats wetlands activist Yoonus Mitha and other concerned personalities on a journey into the grassy estuary itself.
Mitha, along with other activists, have for years now been trying to revive the pristine purity and excellence of the Oupa Fats wetlands, as well as ensure beneficial maintenance by various government entities occurs there.
This latest forage into the picturesque environmental landscape, just north of Lenasia, came after residents in the Mosquito Valley area of Extension 1 (which is directly at Oupa Fats entry point from its south bank) had become concerned with frequent cases of flooding occurring after substantial rains; a blockage or constriction with the flow of water within Oupa Fats lake; and a periodic unpleasant stench emanating from there!

Videos by Lenasia Times Photographer Abdulhak Mall; occasional Commentary by Lenasia Times Editor Waseem Camroodeen; Explanations mainly by Yoonus Mitha.
